Therapies Covered:

You must hold a qualification from recognized training institution for each therapy we insure. We do not accept certain correspondence courses or one day training courses that require proper clinical or therapeutic training. Your association, society, college or school must be approved in order to apply for this insurance.

As a general rule, if your course has a large, practical, hands on, face to face element to it we will accept this. If your qualification is purely distance learning we may struggle to insure you. We will need to know what practical modules you have taken and how you were signed off and judged competent by your course provider. We will also need information about your experience as well as details about other qualifications held before we can give you a decision.

If you are thinking about taking a distance learning course, ask the organisers beforehand who will insure you after you are qualified? Also note that some distance learning colleges are now offering practical modules as part of the course. Remember, in today’s litigious world it is imperative you carry insurance.

Why do we make such a fuss about qualifications? This is because insurers are becoming more particular about the risks that they will take on. They want to know that the utmost care has been taken to ensure that Therapists not only have a sound theoretical knowledge base but also have a excellent grasp of the practical side of their therapy and are aware of the pitfalls and contraindications that may occur on a day to day basis.

If you decide to purchase your insurance through us, Therapist Insurance will require to see your certificates of qualification within 30 days of purchase. If in doubt you can send them to us prior to purchase so we can approve them and make your purchasing experience that much smoother.

Overseas qualifications, normally, do not present a problem. Therapist Insurance may require some supplementary information but as a general rule we can normally accept a large proportion of overseas qualifications.

In the event of a claim or circumstance that may lead to a claim being notified to Insurers, you will be required to provide Insurers with copies of all qualifications that the insurance is covering. If qualifications are not held for the therapies included under this insurance then Insurers may void coverage.

Clinic Medical Malpractice Insurance:

If an individual Practitioner owns a clinic they need to purchase Clinic Owners Medical Malpractice Errors & Omissions Insurance insures. This covers the owner(s) of the clinic as well as non-professional employees of the clinic. It applies to clinics where there are multiple practitioners (of any kind) working together. Depending upon the volume fo business and modalities annual premiums start at about $700 and up for $2,000,000 limit.

Note: Clinic Owners Medical Malpractice Errors & Omissions Insurance does not replace the requirement for each therapist/practitioner to carry their own individual malpractice insurance.
